(About Sakis)

It all started in 2000

It's getting late and I'm afraid because I don't think I'll be able to eat anything before I go to bed. Now that I think of it, I haven't eaten anything all day long. I've been too busy cooking food for everyone else. Inside what is arguably one of the fanciest restaurant in Athens I've been creating the most intricate and tasty dishes known to man, and woman, even the food on it is delicious. I'm one of the main cooks even though I'm only young. Prior to me becoming a cook I was just a waiter, never knowing my passion for food. It began with an accident. I was starving. I watched one of the cooks closely, he preferred chef. In the end we all made food. He put the food together with ease and made it look easy, the others watched struggling, failing. It was a day like today and I was so hungry, so hungry that my hunger had taken all control of my body, I felt like if I didn't get any food then I would die. Not only did I not die that day, I felt a deep satisfaction like I had never felt before. I got to work early to escape a pretty cruel outside-of-work lifestyle, but that's another story..

I started watching the cooks closely and started asking anything I didn't know about cooking. The chefs were very helpful in teaching me all the secrets of cooking. I learned how to cook the finest Greek foods and I was good enough, I was promoted to be one of the chefs. After a couple of years I was one of the preffered chefs at the restaurant.

My passion for Greek food became so big that I started thinking of opening my own restaurant. After 4 years working as a chef I opened my restaurant in Athens, Greece named as Sakis Tavern.

Contemporary History

After moving to Toronto, Canada my passion for Greek food didn't stop. I started looking and applying for jobs at some of the local Greek restaurants.

I was accepted as a chef at one of the restaurants which made Greek food. I worked there for about 7 years but I wanted to use my passion for greek food for my own interest. Thats when I opened Sakis Greek Restaurant with the help of my great family.
